AGRA WITH VARANSI TOUR

Day 1 – Arrive in Delhi

 

On arrival at Delhi airport our representative having a placard displaying your name will meet you to pick you up and transfer to your hotel. Overnight at hotel in Delhi.

 

Day 2 – Delhi – Varanasi (overnight train) 12 hours

 

After breakfast visit of New Delhi. First of all you will visit India Gate, President House (Rashtrapati Bhawan) and Parliament house. Later you will visit Qutab Minar and Humayun Tomb. In the afternoon visit  of Old Delhi covering Jama mosque and Red fort. Take a stroll in busy Chandni chowk market. Enjoy a Cycle rickshaw ride in Old Delhi area. Also stop to see ShishganjSikh temple in Chandni chowk area. In the evening transfer to New Delhi railway station to board the train for Varanasi. We will book AC 2nd class sleeper. You will be provided with a pillow, a blanket and bed sheet. Enjoy the India train experience and overnight on board in the train. (Train departs 18:55 from New Delhi station – Arrives at Varanasi next day 07:30 in the morning – travelling time is 12 hours and 35 minutes). Varanasi tour

 

Day 3 – Varanasi

 

On arrival at VaranasiJunction Railway Station, our representative from Varanasi office will come and meet you just near to your coach. Do not proceed towards exit gate as our representative will meet you right next to your coach at the platform. Transfer to your hotel (check in time is 12 noon). Breakfast at the hotel, then later visit the holy cityof Varanasi.

 

Varanasi, or Benaras (also known as Kashi), is one of the oldest living cities in the world. Varanasi’s prominence in Hindu mythology is virtually unrivalled. Varanasi is famous for spiritualism, mysticism, Indian philosophy and Hinduism. All these are reflected in numerous sects, temples, ashrams and ghats. You will visit the ghats (steps leading to rivier Ganga), Kashi Vishwanath temple, Bharat Mata temple and Banaras Hindu University.

 

Later in the afternoon excursion to Sarnath (Sarnath is closed on Fridays). It is located ten kilometres from the center of Varanasi. It symbolizes the birth of Buddhism, since it was here that Buddha revealed his doctrine and founded his monastic community. Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon at Sarnath. Visit the museum at Sarnath which is amongst the most important in India and contains carvings representing a whole range of styles: archaic, the Mathura School, Gupta, past Gupta and Medieval, covering work of sculptors from the 3rd century B.C. to the 12th century A.D.

Return to Varanasi city for an overnight stay.

 

Day 4 – Varanasi – Agra (overnight train) 12 hours

 

Early morning at dawn enjoy a boat ride at river Ganga. Observe the life of people who come to take a holy bath in river Ganga. Day is free to explore the Old city at your own leisure. Stroll around the ghats and visit the markets, or as an option take a village tour to nearby villages to meet with villagers and get to know about their daily routine life.

 

In the evening transfer to Varanasi Junction Railway Station and board an overnight train for Agra. We will book AC 2nd class sleeper. You will be provided with a pillow, a blanket and bed sheet. Enjoy the India train experience and overnight on board in the train. (Train departs 17:20 from Varanasi Junction Station – Arrives at Agra Fort next day 05:55 in the morning- travelling time is 12 hours and 35 minutes). Early morning visit the Taj Mahal

 

Day 5 – Agra

 

On arrival at Agra fort railway station, our representative from Agra office will come and meet you just near to your coach. Do not proceed towards exit gate as our representative will meet you right next to your coach at the platform. Transfer to your hotel (check in time is 12 noon). Breakfast at the hotel, then later visit Agra city. First of all you will visit the Taj Mahal. From parking you will take a battery bus which will drop you near the eastern gate of the Taj Mahal.

 

Later visit Agra fort. Construction of the massive red sandstone Agra Fort on the bank of Yamuna River was begun by EmperorAkbar in 1565 and it was to be predominantly a military structure until his grandson, Shah Jahan, added more palatial accommodations. There are a number of exquisite buildings within its portals, such as Samman Burj, where Shah Jahan was held captive by his son, Moti Masjid, a white marble mosque, Diwan – e – AmDiwan – e – Khas, Jahangir’s Palace, Khaas Mahal and Shish Mahal. Rest of the day is free at leisure or visit the city markets.

 

Day 6 – Agra – Jaipur 235km / 5 hours

 

Drive to Jaipur. En route visit Fatehpur Sikri. Mughal emperor Akbar shifted his capital from Agra to Fatehpur Sikri in 1571, Akbar commenced the construction of a planned walled city which took the next fifteen years in planning and construction of a series royal palaces, harem, courts, a mosque, private quarters and other utility buildings.

 

He named the city, Fatehabad, with Fateh, a word of Arabic origin in Persian, meaning “victory“, it was later called Fatehpur Sikri. Continue drive towards Jaipur. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. Evening free at leisure in your hotel.

 

Day 7 – Jaipur 

 

 

After breakfast drive to the Amber fort located 11km from Jaipur city. The Amber fort was ancient capital of Jaipur state. Here you can enjoy an elephant ride up to the palace. Visit various palaces inside the palace complex notably mirror place (Sheesh Mahal). Return to Jaipur city and visit the observatory and City Palace.

 

It is located in the heart of the walled city. It is an imposing blend of traditional Rajput and Mughal architecture with a vast palace complex. Here you will visit a museum housing an extensive collection of art, carpets, clothes and old weapons. Drive past Hawa Mahal (or Palace of winds) built by Maharaja Sawaj Pratap Singh in 1799, one of Jaipur’s major landmarks, the facade of which is all pink windows and filigree screens. It was originally built to enable ladies of the royal household to watch the everyday life and processions of the city.

 

Note:At night visit to Kamal’s house (owner of the company) for Dinner. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

 

 

Day 8 – Jaipur – Bikaner 330km / 6 hours

 

After breakfast drive to desert city of Bikaner in North West of Rajasthan. Long drive of about 6 hours. Before you arrive at Bikaner city you will visit Camel breedingfarm which is just 7 km before Bikaner. It is only one of its kind in Asia. It houses more than 300 camels and cute baby camels that are a huge tourist attraction. You might have an opportunity to test tea made of camel milk.

 

This modern dromedary breeding facility is government owned and gives visitors an insight into the processes required to keep the camel population in the region in numbers sufficient for practical working purposes. See how experts known as Raikas or Rebaris have successfully developed Jaisalmeri and Kachchhi breeds by selective breeding techniques.

 

Day 9 – Bikaner – Kolayat – Phalodi town 160km / 3 hours

 

Breakfast at the hotel, then visit the Junagarh Fort. Then drive to Phalodi, a little town in the Thar Desert. En route you will stop at Kolayat village, a beautiful village with Havelis and a sacred Lake 15km from Gajner. Kolayat is a pilgrimage place for Hindus. Another important feature of Kolayat is the annual fair held during Oct – Nov (full moon of the Hindu month Kartik) which attracts thousands of pilgrims and tourists. Drive towards Phalodi.

 

Arrive and check into your hotel  Hotel. In the evening you will be taken to Bawari Kallan village, a lovely, beautiful village near Phalodi town. It is not explored by common travellers and has its own charm and beauty. Unlike other tourist villages, Bawari Kallan village will give you a unique experience. Take a village tour on a bullock cart or camel cart. Visit the village pond and Shiva temple. This pond is the only water source of the village. Later visit the temple of village deity Maa Sirwal. In the evening enjoy a dinner with a village family.

 

Return to Phalodi town which is only 14km away from Bawari village. Overnight at the Hotel.

 

Day 10 – Phalodi – Jaislamer 170km / 3 hours

 

Breakfast at the hotel and drive to Sun City called Jaisalmer. On arrival check into your hotel. Jaisalmer lies in the heart of Thar Desert. In the city itself many of the houses and temples are exquisitely sculptured. Proceed for a city sightseeing tour. You will visit Gadisar lake, Bada Bagh and the Jaisalmer fort, also known as the ‘Golden Fort'(sonar Killa) because of the golden colour of its stone. This is the only living fort in the world and about a quarter of city’s population still live inside the fort.

 

You will also visit beautifully carved Havelis in the city. Notably Salim Singh Haveli and Patwo Haveli (Haveli means private mansion). They usually contain a courtyard and many rooms. These Havelis were the elaborate homes of Jaisalmer’s rich merchants. The ostentatious carvings etched out in sandstone with infinite detail and then painstakingly pieced together in different patterns each more lavish than the next were commissioned to put on show the owner’s status and wealth.  In the late afternoon depart for Sam sand dunes. Enjoy a camel ride and watch the sunset in great TharDesert. Return to the hotel in Jaisalmer for overnight stay.

 

Day 11 – Jaisalmer – Jodhpur – Luni  300km / 6 hours

 

After breakfast drive to Jodhpur. Arrive and check into the hotel, then later visit the Mehrangarh Fort. Rao Jodha became the ruler in 1458 and within 1 year of of his accession Rao Jodha decided to build a new capital. The foundation of this fort was laid on 12th May 1459 by Jodha himself on a rocky hill six miles south of Mandore the ancient capital of Marwad. The hill, a hundred and twenty meters high, was known as Bhakurcheeria, the Mountain of Birds, or Cheeriatunk, the Bird’s Beak. Its lone human occupant at the time was an old hermit called Cheeria Nathji, the Lord of the Birds (even today the fort is home to thousands of birds, particularly the Cheel or Kite, the sacred bird of the Rathores). This fort has never been taken in a siege. Visit various palaces inside the fort.

 

Later drive to Luni a small village just 20 km from Jodhpur. Stay in a heritage hotel .

 

Day 12 – Luni – Ranakpur – Udaipur 250km / 4 hours

 

After breakfast drive to Udaipur. En route visit famous Jain temples at Ranakpur. The temple is said to have been built by Seth Dharna Sah (a Jain businessman) with the aid of Rana Kumbha, who ruled Mewar in the 15th century. The temple has over 1444 marble pillars carved in exquisite detail, support the temple. The pillars are all differently carved and no two pillars are the same, where all the statues face each other. Continue drive towards Udaipur. Arrive and check into your hotel. Evening free at your leisure.

 

Day 13 – Udaipur

 

Visit of Udaipur, often called ‘Venice of the East’, or ‘City of lakes’. The Lake Palace (Jag Niwas) located in the middle of Pichola Lake is the finest example of architectural and cultural marvel. The grand City Palace on the banks of the lake along with the Monsoon Palace (Sajjan Garh) on the hill above enhances the beauty of this magnificent city. Udaipur is also the centre for performing arts, crafts and its famed miniature paintings. The Shilpgram festival is a great crowd-puller on New Year. Visit the City Palace which towers over the Pichola Lake. Maharana Udai Singh initiated the construction of the palace but successive Maharanas added several palaces and structures to the complex but retained remarkable uniformity in the design. The entry to the Palace is from the Hati Pol, the Elephant Gate. Also visit JagdishTemple and SaheliyonKibari. Overnight at the hotel in Udaipur.

 

Day 14 – Udaipur – Delhi 1½ hour flight

 

Morning transfer to airport to take the flight back to Delhi. On arrival at Delhi airport transfer to a hotel for day use room. Complimentarydinner with KAMAL INDIA TOUR representative. Later in the evening on time transfer to international airport to board the flight back to your onward destination.
